First time?
What to
expect
If you have never done shibari before, here is what a first class looks like.
No experience needed
Beginner classes start from zero. You do not need a partner — we will sort that out. Just come curious and willing to learn.
What to bring
Comfortable clothes you can move in. If you have rope, bring it — if not, we have it at the studio. Nothing else is required.
How a class works
Small group, typically 6–12 people. The instructor demonstrates, then you practise with a partner under supervision. There is always time for questions.
Safety is built in
Every class covers how to tie without causing harm, how to communicate with your partner, and what to do if something feels wrong. This is not a side note — it is part of the practice.

We offer a few things that might be useful for your shibari practice — ropes and accessories we use ourselves and are happy to recommend.

Ogawa jute rope 6mm (untreated)
Untreated · 6mm · natural jute
Available at the studio
NekoNeko is a shibari and photography studio in Belgrade, run by Ksenia and Seva. We approach rope as both a technical discipline and an art form — taught with care for safety, aesthetics, and the relationship between the people involved.
Practice
Regular classes for all levels, from complete beginners to those developing their own style.
Photography
A private studio for shibari shoots, portraits, and art concepts — with or without our involvement.
Community
Open Rope Jam sessions where people practice together in a relaxed, non-hierarchical space.
Safety
Every class covers technique, communication, and how to work without causing harm. It is built into everything we do.
What people say
I came with no experience and left with a real foundation. The pace was right, the space felt safe, and I finally understood what it means to actually practise shibari — not just copy knots.
A.K.
Beginner class
What I appreciated most was how seriously consent and communication were treated — not as a side note, but as part of the technique itself. That's rare.
M.V.
Intermediate workshop
The studio feels like it was built by people who actually care about the practice. Small group, real feedback, no performance pressure. I've been coming back every month.
