About
A space for
practice and
creativity
NekoNeko is a shibari and photography studio based in Belgrade. We approach rope as both a technical discipline and an art form — taught thoughtfully, with care for safety and tradition.
Our workshops are small, intentional, and designed to build real skill — whether you're picking up rope for the first time or deepening an existing practice.
The team

Ksenia & Seva
Co-founders
Ksenia and Seva founded NekoNeko out of a shared love for rope, photography, and the kind of community that grows when people practise something seriously together. They come to the studio from different directions — and that difference is part of what makes it work.
Ksenia came to shibari as a model and has spent years inside the practice from that side: what it feels like to be tied, how trust is built, what makes a space feel safe enough to be vulnerable in. She is the heart of the NekoNeko community — the person who remembers everyone's name, makes newcomers feel welcome, and keeps the social fabric of the studio alive.
Seva brings the technical rigour. He is a photographer and a rigger, drawn to shibari through its visual and physical precision — the way a well-placed rope changes a body in space, the way light catches a tie. For him, good form is not separate from feeling — it is the foundation of it.
Together they have built a studio that is both serious and warm — a place where the work is real and the people matter.
Our mission
To make shibari accessible, safe, and meaningful — for anyone willing to approach it with honesty and care.
We built NekoNeko because we believe that good teaching changes how people relate to rope, to their partners, and to themselves. Shibari done well is not just technique — it is a practice of attention, presence, and trust.
Our goal is a studio where the work is taken seriously and people feel genuinely welcome — where beginners are not made to feel small, and experienced practitioners find real material to grow into.
Our values
Safety as a practice
Safety is not a disclaimer — it is built into every technique we teach. We treat it as a skill to develop, not a box to check.
Consent as a foundation
Everything in our studio is built on explicit, ongoing consent. This shapes how we teach, how we interact, and what we expect from everyone in the space.
Craft over performance
We care more about what you understand than how it looks. Solid foundations matter. Good form comes from real practice, not shortcuts.
Warmth without compromise
We want the studio to feel welcoming and human — but not at the expense of rigour. Warmth and seriousness are not opposites.
Community built on trust
The people who come to NekoNeko build something together over time. We take that seriously — and protect the environment that makes it possible.
Openness to all levels
Beginners are not a lesser category. Everyone who walks through the door deserves the same quality of attention, regardless of where they are in their practice.
